Versions and licences
Every build of stream-concern belongs to a channel. The channel and the day the build was made are fixed when it is built; Settings ▸ Licence shows both (see Settings › Licence).
Channels
| Channel | Who gets it | How long it works |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha | Anyone, with or without an account | 14 days from its build date |
| Beta | Anyone with an account on stream-concern.com (no payment) | 60 days from its build date |
| Release | Everyone; a licence brings a year of updates (see below) | Always |
A build you make yourself from the source is a Development build and never stops.
When an alpha or beta stops
From 3 days before the end, a line at the bottom of the main window says when this alpha or beta stops. On the day it stops, the app opens a window instead of starting:
This alpha expired on 30 October 2026. Download the latest alpha.
Its one button, Download the latest alpha (or beta), opens the download page in your browser, and the app quits. Install the new build; your scenes, settings and recordings are kept, because they live in your profile folder, not in the app.
The check works offline. Setting the computer’s clock back does not bring an expired build back: the app remembers the latest day it has seen, and an expiry, in your profile.
A beta asks for an account: until you are signed in, Settings ▸ Licence shows a Sign in button and a line at the bottom of the main window says so. The beta keeps working while you are not signed in.
Licences
A licence is yours for good for the versions you have, and it includes one year of updates from the day you buy it.
- From one month before your year of updates ends, a line at the bottom of the main window (and Settings ▸ Licence) says “Your year of updates ends on <date>.”
- After that day the app keeps working in full. Nothing is switched off. Only a newer version, released after your year of updates, needs a new licence.
Entering a licence
- Sign in on stream-concern.com and open your account page. It shows your licence as a block of text.
- In the app, open Settings ▸ Licence, paste the text into the box under Enter licence…, and press Apply.
The app checks the licence on your computer, without going online. It is kept
in your profile folder as licence.token
(~/Library/Application Support/stream-concern/ on macOS,
%APPDATA%\stream-concern\ on Windows, ~/.config/stream-concern/ on Linux).
Remove licence deletes it from this computer.
If a licence cannot be used (it was changed, or it is for a newer version of stream-concern), Settings ▸ Licence says why; the app keeps working.
