Silence on this Mac (capture only)
On macOS, a game’s audio or system audio that the app captures can be kept off your speakers and headphones while the stream and your recordings still carry it. Use it when you want to hear only your microphone, your monitoring or a call, and not the game, while your audience hears everything.
It needs macOS 14.2 or later. It is in the egui app and the macOS app; it does not exist on Windows or Linux.
Turning it on
The switch Silence on this Mac (capture only) is in a Game Capture
layer’s properties, for the game’s Game audio input (see
Game Capture). In the macOS app it
is also on the mixer strip of every input that captures system or application
audio (see
Desktop and application audio).
The game, or whatever the input captures, goes quiet on the Mac; the stream
and the recordings still carry it.
The setting is saved with the input. Switching it changes the capture in place: the input is not removed or re-added.
On a Mac older than 14.2 the switch is replaced by the reason it cannot be used.
