Undo and redo

Scene and layer edits can be undone and redone: Edit ▸ Undo and Edit ▸ Redo, or ⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z (Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z on Windows and Linux). Every app has them.

What can be undone

  • moving, resizing, rotating and cropping a layer, and its aspect and opacity (dragging the opacity slider is one step);
  • a layer’s portrait-layout placement;
  • showing or hiding and locking or unlocking a layer;
  • a layer’s effects and fades;
  • moving a layer up or down the stack (see Layers);
  • renaming a scene and moving it in the scene list;
  • a scene’s transition and its transition override (see Transitions);
  • a text layer’s text edited from the layer list.

A linked layer’s edit is undone in every scene that shows it.

What cannot be undone

Adding or removing a scene or a layer, linking a layer into another scene, switching the Program or Preview scene, changing the canvas size, and resetting a scene’s portrait layout are not recorded.

The history holds the last 100 steps; older ones are dropped.
